What a gorgeous wedding Emily and Chris had at Regale Winery overlooking the Santa Cruz mountains, I’m so excited to blog about it!
I first met Emily about 4 years ago when I photographed her older sister’s wedding at the Vintner’s Inn in Santa Rosa, CA. Needless to say, I was beyond estactic when Emily contacted me stating that she wanted me to capture her special day!
Emily and Chris’ day started at the Toll House in Los Gatos, CA. The girl’s suite was buzzing with excitement: mimosas, bridesmaids and honorary bridesmaids, hair, make-up and a “wedding playlist” playing in the background 🙂 Emily was cool, calm and relaxed. Just enjoying the company of her best friends and mom, taking it all in, while she was transformed into a gorgeous bride by Nikki Ngo of A-List Makeup.
Meanwhile, Chris was having a great time with his grooms men as they prepared for the day. He gave them some very personal, and special gifts, then got dressed for the big day. They then headed downstairs for a drink at the Toll House’s bar which was a perfect setting for some fun photos, and celebratory Cheers!
After Emily put on her dress in the bridal loft at Regale Winery; she met Chris on the upstairs terrace overlooking the amazing grounds of the winery for their First Look. With their bridal party watching, Emily tapped Chris on the shoulder, he then turned around to see his gorgeous bride for the first time. You could see the joy on both of their faces. First looks are pretty amazing. It’s like extending the moment of first seeing one another at the aisle, but also having the opportunity to enjoy it together. There are always lots of hugs, kisses, and sometimes tears. And it is all captured to look back at forever!
Emily and Chris’ ceremony took place with the Santa Cruz mountains in the background, it was pretty stunning to say the least. During the ceremony they each poured dirt into the pot of an olive tree. It was so sweet, and unique! After the vows were said (they had personal vows for one anther they were planning to share later), they kissed, put their hands in the air and strolled off to the reception as Mr. and Mrs. Arkley!
Guests had drinks, played bocce ball, and took in the ambiance of Regale winery during cocktail hour while we took family photos under the olive tree! It was so hot that day, so we took refuge in the barrel room for some A/C! Emily and Chris then had a moment alone before heading into dinner. Dinner was served on the gorgeous patio, family style with Emily and Chris overlooking their guests as they sat at a sweetheart table. Dinner was amazing, provided by II Fornaio. As the sun began to set, we headed out to the vineyards for some romantic portraits- the vineyards were glowing at “golden hour”, it made for really pretty portraits!
After that, it was party time! Emily and Chris started off with cutting their cake! It was a simple yet elegant 3 tiered cake with accents of roses provided by Amour Patiserrie .They then joined for their first dance which led into the father/daughter dance, and Chris danced with his mother and stepmother. It was very sweet. To top it off, Chris and his fraternity brothers serenaded Emily with their honorary sweetheart song. Emily loved it and Chris looked so proud singing to her along with his fraternity brothers.
Their guests danced the night away with music from Big Fun Disc Jockeys playing some great music! I took a moment during the night to step away and capture some night photography shots of the property. It can be really fun, and a pleasant surprise to the bride and groom to get their wedding photos back and see their venue from a different perspective!
So, to Emily and Chris- Congrats to you both! I know you will have a life together filled of health, happiness and beautiful memories! XO, Stacey
